Looking at the photos of your discs I was kind of feeling that they weren’t looking as they should but it’s hard to decide in a photo. It doesn’t help that I’m colourblind either ? ?

Hopefully you’ll be sorted now, replace the rubber boots aswell whike you’re there.

The friction discs dont look too bad in the pictures. The steel ones look to have a lot of pitting, but hard to see. May be oil. Anyway, you can compare against new when they arrive.
Let us know how you get on.

Hi again

After quite a long wait that parts came in, dealer never rang back and said but when chased said they could not source the brake disks so they had to be ordered aftermarket from agriline. Put tractor together yesterday and did a couple of other little jobs like cleaning out the bottom diesel tank which after 30 years had a good selection of black sludge in it, also messed with the vent line for the bottom tank as the tractor is slow to get diesel down there while filling and it goes down with a gurgling sound when the air comes back up.

Anyway tractor came out of shed last night and the have tightened the brakes up so you can just get them to stop you with the pedal on the floor, being over cautious basically. The hydraulics are back up to full speed instantly and any whining noise has gone, obviously it has clean oil in it and new filters. Will hopefully get hydraulics tested either today or tomorrow, are still waiting on news of transmission controller for the other tractor and someone to cone down and refit it and also bring a hydraulic test kit for the 7910.

Anyway at the moment we are going to keep a very close eye on the tractor and get the oil back out of it after 10 hours or so and look at the condition of it. If it was the brakes binding and hopefully it was all we can think it was at the moment was the pivot arm that the handbrake cable actuates on the right hand side was a little stiff. so the slotted linkage on the cable would move on the clevis pin but the arm would not fall back freely. In theory this could put pressure on the brake disks is the internal springs on the actuator where not strong enough to pull it back. Is all freed off now so we will see what happens.

Thanks for everyones input, will let you know what happens after a few hours.

We used too get bothered with brakes binding on fords because the pivot down at the adjuster nuts would sieze up and hand brake wouldn't go fully off

Yes exactly that, everything appears to come off properly due to the slotted clevis on the end of the cable but the final piece right on the brake actuating rod is slightly tight.

Has been going well so far, tractor has been running the tanker now it has finally rained. Is rolling completely freely now, so hopefully the problem is all sorted and will have to keep a eye on it in the future. Still waiting on getting the hydraulics tested, transmission controller for t6.155 is back at dealer apparently but no one is sure if it will be plug and play or if it is going to require some serious coding to get it going again.

Anyway, all good so far.

Matt
