they were everywhere a few years ago but i think now there being overtaken by claas, They were good baler when going right would bale anything but at a slow and steady pace, very low in straw compared with massey. there a very heavy lump that takes some pulling and with no brakes can give you a big shove down a hill. I drove 1 for 2 seasons did about 40,000 bales, had some great days and some very frustrating days, but you get them with every square baler.

yeah did hear that they nothing but trouble, he went all claas, think pye older 1 was 1592d prototype it had near 200,000 on when i left, the one i drove passed 100,000 the 1st season i was on it i did 25,000 on it that yr and following yr think i'd done 17'000 when i put the 187 on to bale straw, cant remember what was on it when i left think it did 1 more season and now they both been replaced with quadrants

Does anyone know if freeman balers are available in the uk and if so why not??

Most contractors seem to have gone to 3400 class balers now.
Seems to be plenty of old 6 string Freemans sitting in dealers yards that they cant get rid of. I'm sure they would send you a couple if you wanted them(y)
I remember after a particularly break down plagued week we decided.

I guess the fact that you can stack 3 90 x 120 bales on a truck and stay under 4.25 meters high helps also.

Freeman were the baler of choice but other brands have caught up and passed them I guess

The 3 string is the baler of choice here.

The freeman baling nightmares! They are too heavy for the uk - you want some nice dry, very hard, very flat fields. It would not be a good idea regarding spare parts either.....

10 years ago, I had 2 seasons with Mr Jackson driving his JD 8110 and freeman. loved every second of it and learned how a knotter works!.

Its great to see how Andrew has driven his business forward each year - one of the best I have seen.

Nice to see agrifarm mentioned on here and bring back some memories.

I think Freeman were an ideal baler in their day for doing baleage, but when the business was sold to another company the drive for development was no longer there. Hence other brands have taken over

Are they still even made?

They were definitely a different machine, they were a heavy beast, massive flywheel which took a bit of power to get up to speed,
