What are the recommendations currently looking at buying a tractor with front links and thought a press on front when using combination would be useful fairly heavy land

Biggest advantage of a front press is keeping tractor stable when turning and in transport.obviously the pressing and cutting of soil is the intended benefit.people running drills with huge weights on the front are just compacting the soil in my opinion.at least with a press that weight is dispersed across its working width and not just under the front tyres

Depends on your ground and what your wanting to achieve
Normally run a set of kvernland discs over ploughing first will probably still do that as it's a very slow job getting it in one pass with combination was thinking press might break it further as well as helping carry tractors weight

Get some wide tyres on tractor so they are the full 3 m width and wide fronts . And have a press that does between the wheels .
look at a sumo tyre one , you can have leading tines too ,
Have made one with 4 big trsiler tyres that steer and 2 rows of tines in front . Both work well and don’t really bung up when you find a sticky bit

A press on it's own won't do much but will help a bit
We run paddles as well which work well in most conditions as they're filling in the holes before the power harrow gets to it . But when ground is over wintered and heavy going it's very hard so a leading time would be better .
We're mostly very light so paddles suit us and in the heavy stuff 2 days behind the plough they're good as well
