I'd say it was a foolish move to assume there will always be some at the pumps, the last 6 months or so have proved it quite likely won't be.Possibly the days of storing expensive fuel are disappearing for small farmers.just buy as need at pump ???
Thing's be parked up soon the way it's going tooI'd say it was a foolish move to assume there will always be some at the pumps, the last 6 months or so have proved it quite likely won't be.

Next door dairy was trying to tell me how little diesel his old Deere 7930 had taken to lift 140 acres with the forage wagon.Chopper used 7l/acre here. 840l for the day. 3 tractors carting avg 120l each.

He works everything out to fractions of a pence, so it's must be true, even if the amount seemed too small to actually remember (!)
Suppose a day with the self propelled is only the cost of a few kg of fertiliser these days, so in the grand scheme of things, does it matter?
is why i was asking for rough tonnage to try and compare it with what i use on the wagonI think it does matter.
Good to know your costs I think. Maybe ignorance is bliss though!
I'd like to work out how much more it cost to fill the pit this year with increased fertiliser and diesel costs.
Also how dose the portion of bio in fuel affect the cost, would Fuel be cheaper without the bio?
It's earth bank walls. So not very easy to work out.is why i was asking for rough tonnage to try and compare it with what i use on the wagon
measure your pit in cubic meters
That doesn’t sound like much, we have about 80 acres done, all around clamp, heavy crop and they will use over 2000 litres . And we mow it!Those figures don't seem far out. We had same set up to do 110 acres last Saturday. Took them seven hours and I think they used about 1300 litres.
At least it was quite a useful cut both for quality and quantity.
That can't be right, filled up 2500 litre tank here. Brought in 220 acres for ourselves and others. Mowed down 75 acres for ourselves as well. And there's still some left in the tankThat doesn’t sound like much, we have about 80 acres done, all around clamp, heavy crop and they will use over 2000 litres . And we mow it!
