A very helpful RAC man on the BBC this morning Crude got to $140 a barrel in 2008 but petrol only got to £1.20. Apart from extra fuel duty the dollar exchange rate was nearly $2 to the pound, just looked and its $1.07 this morning, didn’t realise it was so low. That’s massive. Explains a lot.

Chopper used 7l/acre here. 840l for the day. 3 tractors carting avg 120l each.

120 acres.

Not sure pit/mowers/tedder/rake.
Next door dairy was trying to tell me how little diesel his old Deere 7930 had taken to lift 140 acres with the forage wagon.

He works everything out to fractions of a pence, so it's must be true, even if the amount seemed too small to actually remember (!)

Suppose a day with the self propelled is only the cost of a few kg of fertiliser these days, so in the grand scheme of things, does it matter?

I think it does matter.🤷‍♂️

Good to know your costs I think. Maybe ignorance is bliss though!

I'd like to work out how much more it cost to fill the pit this year with increased fertiliser and diesel costs.🤓

is why i was asking for rough tonnage to try and compare it with what i use on the wagon

measure your pit in cubic meters

Just ordered 1500 litres of red at 118.5 p . Two firms quoted that price, another firm couldn't give a price only to say what today's deliveries were going out at ( 114.97) and would confirm price before delivery - she actually advised me to go with a fixed quote from someone else.
Farmdeals I'm afraid were 119.8

Those figures don't seem far out. We had same set up to do 110 acres last Saturday. Took them seven hours and I think they used about 1300 litres.

At least it was quite a useful cut both for quality and quantity.
That doesn’t sound like much, we have about 80 acres done, all around clamp, heavy crop and they will use over 2000 litres . And we mow it!

That can't be right, filled up 2500 litre tank here. Brought in 220 acres for ourselves and others. Mowed down 75 acres for ourselves as well. And there's still some left in the tank
