Furlough

Certainly not jealousy, I see a successful business and one which is presumably profitable with projects on the go but doesn’t want to keep staff involved or employed with it which seems odd to me...

not sure what my choice of cars or building new sheds etc has to do with anything?

i’ve actually bought the electric car to save money, it will save £120/ week in diesel for my high mileage wife and is very tax efficient whilst being better fur the environment- a bit of a no brainier really - i hardly drive it frankly, i drive a 2016 defender mostly

The new store is an investment that will make me money- such investment in the past is why I can buy fancy electric cars !

it's funny how so many are critical of the way I farm and run businesses then are shocked when they see im clearly making a few £ somehow ........... maybe join the dots between cause and effect ????

as above my tweet about furlough was satire/sarcasm! making the point how some might take the pee

Clearly a joke, just wish the media coverage was. Just a couple of days ago the Beeb were pushing for furlough extension, trumpeting the success of the German scheme and why we needed it here. Well now we have the German scheme but of course it's not enough. Now it's too little too late, people falling through the cracks, unemployment cliff edge and so on

glad someone gets it

the point i was (trying) to make was how easy it is to take the pee out of these schemes

i reckon the outgoing furlough scheme has done as much harm as good

Clive can't be furloughing his staff.....after drilling, no time to do it now, they have to clean down the combine all winter

they will be off in December/ Jan mostly as alwsys (i will be paying them though). no point being here when there is nothing to do and they just end up finding things to spend money on !

they only earn me money when they are holding a steering wheel - the rest of the time they cost me !

I was mildly amused to see a businessman living 300yds from an HMRC office from which is run a prosecution team has been arrested for making false furlough claims through a number of his dormant companies claimed full wack for 84 non existent staff members. Imagine his face when they rocked up with the big red door key and all during the first lock down. Presumably he thought being civil servants, like many on here, they were all tucked up at home doing sweet fa.

I agree.think lots of people will get caught out.i know if a few claiming it and working, self employed, where boss deducts tax before payment.sure hmrc will have computer programmes that will cross check these things And be able to reclaim payments

you do understand sarcasm right ?

read my tweets and you will see “just because you can doesn't mesn you should”

i have no intention of furlough for my staff - I do wonder if some farms will however
Sarcasm is difficult in tx !Easy to take it the wrong way!

Such is the journalism of the internet age, they really can't make their minds up. I only occasionally view the bbc news website these days, with makes their contrary position all the more stark. It seems they get most of their news off of reddit.
