I have a 4 rotor rake, it’s a good rake but after year 2 we seem to break a rotor shaft at least once a year. Weak point is where the hole is drilled through the shaft.

I’ve had a single rotor rake for seven years and it works as well as any i’ve Used before. At the time, it was similar money to any decent secondhand rake from Kuhn etc.

It’s cheap & cheerful, and perfectly adequate for small acreages. A contractor’s machine it is not though. I welded a fatigue crack on it this week which, apart from replacing one bent tine, is the only thing i’ve Done to it apart from grease it (yes, I know, I have a grease gun:eek:).

Two local dealers still sell them, and the tine I had to replace was on the shelf, but not had to get anything else.

Decent machinery for the price, sold some tedders and rakes a few years back. Went to the factory and they were making their own gears at the time instead of buying them in. Still family owned.

Got a single rotor rake, about 6 yrs old, £3200 new, been fine. Not had to do anything other than grease, but I like to think I am a bit careful.
Seen tedder at show and thought it looked about same as the lower range KV offering.

If not Galfre then who could be recommended? Perhaps McHale might find a market for farmer sized versions of their contractors machines.

All the big brands do smaller machines around 3.2m and grease packed heads instead of oil immersed gearbox. Not sure why any one would want a 3.2m take though.
