Does anyone have any recommendations?

not too expensive, would go to £500.

for smallish branches, brush etc.

preferably petrol driven with a bit of go about it

not interested in limp wristed electric B and Q townie spec machines.

Eliet Maestro a good robust one. I had one until thieved one night would cope up to 50mm if fed in gradually. B&S engine. But now £1000 plus I expect.
You tend to get what you pay for imo.
