Garmin 76

I have PT Mapper Pro as a mapping programme, for a number of years I have used a handheld Garmin 76 to measure and mark fields and temporary boundaries. I can then transfer the info to the OS maps on the computer.
Today I marked a temporary boundary with a number of satellites showing but then, suddenly, it had lost all the satellites and says that it can't find any.
Close to throwing it at the wall but just found out how much a trimble equivalent is, and the extra software required! All advice welcome.

Thanks, since my original post I have done that. The update details were more for updating the French language than technical.
My next job is to tell it that it is in a new location and leave it outside to search for up to half an hour. Apparently if it has not been used for a few months it can forget where it is, not sure if this really is the problem because it did initially work.

That’s fairly typical if it hasn’t been used in a long while as the receiver needs to download the almanac (positions of satellites, what’s good, bad and ugly) from the sky. Need to give it some time to do this and get happy again.

An update.......... Having told it that it was in a new location,I left the handset switched on with 360 degree sigt of the sky and after half an hour the satellites were showing.
I have got to go and use it now to see if it loses them again.
