Gator/Buggy elderly farmer

Anyone got any experience of a buggy for an elderly farmer, thinking comfort, getting in and out and just over all practicality.
Father her mid 80s and starting to struggle with manual freelander. He likes coming to farm everyday, and looking at options to get him about as lives 7 miles away. One is small automatic car and then buggy on farm, but trying to understand how practical an option is it really.

anyone with similar situation and ideas appreciated.

You can get road legal Gators but would be cheaper to buy a sub-£1k auto car then a cheap knackered UTV for the farm.

And if he’s doing less work and just jobbing about maybe even a Skoda yeti 4x4 easily remove the back seats to make it a van

Sorry I thought you meant he needed to drive to the farm as well, there's an old boy round here who drives his road legal UTV around town, seems to use it as his everyday vehicle. It certainly grabs your attention as it comes whizzing down the road

Main reason we bought a Kioti UTV was for dad in his mid 80’s at the time and it was ideal, just a handy height to get in and out of, not high to climb in but not low so easy to get out of. We bought it after his quad was nicked.

Unfortunately his health deteriorated within 12 months of buying it so he was unable to use it himself thereafter so it’s now my runaround.

Dad is practically housebound but the buggy is the one vehicle we can still manage to get him in without too much bother so we are still able to take him for a ride around the farm now and again so it still has its uses for him.
I would say one with a bench seat is probably better for our purposes than one with individual seats.

Dads 78 but very fit and still very keen on work and still operates a lot of modern kit does big square baler etc so is quite capable of driving most things but if we took his Polaris ranger he’d be like a bear with a sore head he goes everywhere in it and finds it easy to get in and out to open gates he does roughly 1200hrs a year on it getting to the point he’s so used to it being automatic he doesn’t like driving the car

Local old farming couple here must drive their Kubota RTV hundreds of miles per month! It’s often seen outside the church/pub/shop/heading to next town 20 miles away

Used to take dad round in the gator before he passed away, biggest job was getting him from the wheelchair to the seat, always made his day when we went round the moors

The new Can Am Buggy has a road and a land gearbox so you will not be thrashing on the road like the old buggies. I do not know where you are based but a dealership at Louth in Lincolnshire is now marketing them and have changed from there old franchise to the new one as they are half the price!!

sounds like the defender we have here good bit of gear
top cog can get along ok on the roads low box good for moveing stuff around
mate of mine is almost in a wheelchair and has a jimny and to be fair I rate it. very high for what he dose if on rolling ground no bit. rocks etc I would rate higher than the side by sides
warmer with. doors on bit more room in it servicing lower priced put some good feet on one and can go anywhere
the bench seats in a side by side ummm ok on the flat but not as supporting on hills
