Not really, the generator itself has the foam in it's grey box. When I bought it I got the man to throw 2 extra sheets in so I could put it inside the frame i was making round it.
And plenty of the inside if you can pal [emoji108]mines a fg wilson with a 3.152 3 cyl engine and a stanford genny.
ill take a few tomorrow if i mind.
Is it definitely foam? As I looked in a big one today (450 kva) and it was like rubber boards. With packed fibre in betweenNot really, the generator itself has the foam in it's grey box. When I bought it it I got the man to throw 2 extra sheets in so I could it on the frame i making round it
From what I've read on the internet. Kingspan is no good. My idea was insulated tin sheets to make a hut inside the workshop. I don't want to go to all the work and then it's no better. Coz I will be pee'd off [emoji23]Aye like a black spongey foam, I'll get a pic in the morning. You could do it with 50mm kingspan will do the same job I would say.
I've got one made from an engine & chassis from a Major, coupled to an old PTO genny without the gearbox & mounted on a set of axles from a 4 wheel trailer. Fudging thing doesn't half make a racket - I've had to put it in a separate building to cut the noise down! I'm just in the process of upgrading it with a throttle controller to keep the speed right as it warms up, then I need to replace the fuel tank with something better... replace the air cleaner... make a new exhaust ... why didn't I just buy a boxed super silent?Ha! I’m just about to do the same thing.
I figure, the best way to vent it but keep it quiet is to use baffle plates with foam either side to absorb.noise. Not sure what genny you have. Mine I’ve just got is a 23hp twin lister. Not the quietest that’s for sure.

If you want to save doing the work. Theres a fella at Preston with a yard full. 600 pounds each.I’m starting my enclosure today as I collected all the remaining control last night from where I bought it from. Going to do a double bund enclosure so the air is drawn from the opposite end of the outer bund. It’ll travel round the void between the inner and outer which will have foam attached to it. Outer and inner doors to make it super silent. All to be made from shuttering ply then galv tinned. Steel will take to long and cost to much. Even with light weight. Timber will help absorb the noise. It’ll be kept under a canopy so not open to the elements to much.

Look in the slurry reeler thread , you want the same materials as we used in our pump engine unitWhat is the material inside a super silent generator? On with making a crate/box for mine to sit inside
