Genus new contracts

Anyone been invoiced on the new contract terms yet and been shocked? I’ve had the January bill paid out by direct debit but not been invoiced yet. My feeling is that the amount paid seems ridiculously high compared to what I expected for the semen and service provided where the semen is usually spread over six months. The statement and invoices, when they arrive, will make interesting reading. It could be, of course, that I’ve just been more efficient than usual at serving more cattle in a shorter time, even though I’m not using any dairy breeds whatsoever this year let alone expensive sexed.

Mrs vantage was so shocked she stopped the DD! I assumed they’d whacked some semen to pay in one month rather than over a few, but didn’t check. No doubt they’ll explain when they need the money!

I’m glad that I’m not the only one. From talking to some other farmers in the area, it seems that there is a bloodbath of Genus customers who are moving to other companies, but that is pure hearsay as my only experience is a bigger bill than expected [to say the least] but without yet having a statement to examine. I’m hoping that it’s a false fear.

They seem to have quite a random and ‘creative’ way of invoicing at the moment
Had to open an account with them last August for some semen from a third party, invoice arrived in September and its taken me 4 phone calls before they took the money in February using the DD they insisted upon. Been getting final reminders and even a call from them chasing money. Going to keep an eye on bank account as I've heard they collect twice some times.

I did the bills yesterday and found the invoice concerned but I’m damned if I can make any sense out of it. There are pages and pages of invoices and then pages and pages of ‘Consolidated Invoices’. Six pages of the ‘consolidated' alone.
I would challenge anyone to make sense of a Genus invoice. I am not saying they are wrong but it’s very difficult to understand where you are at, especially if they split the payments for a batch of semen over 3 months.
