Good estimate for tractor's fuel consumption

Hey there, I hope you are doing good :)
I am looking for some kind of equation to calculate an estimate for a tractor's fuel consumption. I think it should depend on horse power or load. Are there any other important factors?
Do you know a trustworthy resource, maybe from a government or scientifically, that could help me with that?
Thanks a lot :)

In old money it used to be said half pint per HP per hour.
Old money isn’t the same as new. Last April I did a few days on a gravel cart behind a Muir hill used it all day then it suddenly stopped on me I thought I’d maybe run out of diesel opened the lid and it was still nearly full!! A modern tractor would have used twice as much I recon.
edit the lift pump in the end

New money is comparing fuel consumption in g/kWhr (grams of fuel used per kilo watt hour output)

If you look on the DLG website, they have several decades of test reports on tractors including fuel efficiency.

Plenty of other factors though if you are trying to estimate how much diesel you will need for a job. The duty cycle of a tractor can vary greatly from one task to another.

I am concerned you have the words trustworthy & government in the same sentence ................ the former is not something I'd ever associate with the latter

If roadwork involved, How high is the gearing.. makes a massive difference. Vario's on high draught work. Are people finding them worse?

As said it’s going to depend on the job in hand and driver. Some like to run everything to the max while others are mindful of the cost of fuel and know how to work a tractor without abusing it. My challenger will drill all day long at 1/3 of a gallon an acre but pulling a 37ft horsch joker at 12 mph it’s sucking 24-28 gallons an hour. Never tried it on a hay bob thou.

Why ? is this a study for a university on fuel use in farming?
This is outside question from someone who is not involved in Ag.
