Good reception /clarity new Radio for tractor.

What machine is it going in, does the dealer sell them? Tractors are a pretty harsh environment for a car radio. Big buttons, Bluetooth and DAB+ at a push

Yes for a tractor
and definitely not too fiddly buttons
and bit dusty over time tbf.

Main issue with reception seems to be the areal. Anything built into the roof is going to be a compromise and durable external areas seems to be even rarer than headings that have big buttons and no bling.

The factory FM areal on the last JD here actually looks pretty good, sticking straight up tall and a spring built into the base so it doesn't get bent by low roofs or branches. I haven't noticed an aftermarket aerial like it, for either FM or digital radio.

Headunits with big buttons do exist, but the last time I looked at them they were proibatively expensive with no guarantee that they would last significantly longer.

Dab is rubbish inmy experience. Best with radio that you can connect to a phone and use Internet radio

I got a cheap kenwood radio cd player a few years ago, like all radio's around here the reception is a bit naff in the lowest parts of the dale but the cd sorts that problem. It lso has a multi colour display and I've found green is easier on my eyes at night..

I download the podcasts to my phone when in the house, and then listen on the tractor.

When using a noisy tractor, I have a pair of BT/FM radio headphones that kill all external noises nicely and I can hear the broadcast at a very low level. I do like noise cancelling ear buds, but find battery life is less than impressive when using noise cancelling mode.

good ideas ,i do have to be a bit careful else the tinnitus type noise in my left ear gets agitated / loader in quiet times

streaming doesn't use much data, and data is dirt cheap now anyway

Something similar. Not the greatest sound quality, but in a tractor, that is hardly an issue

There were some basic push button (real mechanical buttons!) radios about a year or 2 back, that I wish I had picked up one then.
