Gps dog tracker

So I have a problem dog.
She somehow found me a mile away from the farm a mile away up the road. I went in the tractor. The tractor was parked up whilst I was fencing. She has never been in this field and never walked up the road that way! This was a couple of hours after I left the farm.
Can a dog track a vehicle?
Anyway I'm thinking a gps tracker is needed. Can be a rechargeable type. Has anyone any experience of them?

Yes .
Tried one on the terrier. It was great first time, rubbish thereafter.
Better off with a good tag and your mobile number on it. Am always surprised where I find the little sod

I could do with something too for a terrier who manages to escape on an all to regular basis. Makes it up or out to neighbours. Sometimes gets picked up by strangers and taken miles away to their homes because the haven’t got a mobile phone ? I spend as long looking for her and as often as she is away she is just in the shed playing deaf? I really must try and make a secure run for her......

I have one of these for my little idiot...

Works well enough but relys on decent signal etc, sometimes have to wait for her to come out of thick woods or re - surface !!
I’ve got one of these - really good, and solid. Make sure you get the grey and blue one, rather than the white model. I had the white model previously, but only used the tracker to find it when it had fallen off!

I bought one off Amazon it’s ok bit bulky.

Vodafone do one , I wish I’d got it but it wasn’t available. Suppose you need a decent Vodafone signal

Even better to have your dog tied up/ kennelled when not in your immediate control. We wouldn't tolerate others allowing their dogs to roam, so why is it okay for farm dogs to do so?
Unfortunately a neighbour takes his dog for a walk and comes through the yard. Our dog seems to think it's ok to go with them! Only happened twice . Ours goes so far then decides to come home or find me!
Going to fence off the footpath next few weeks

+1 For tractive , ive got the white one and cable tied it on for extra safety . Battery lasts about 3 weeks on a charge . As said can be a delay on signal but it catches up . You can set a virtual fence on the app on your phone and then get a warning text that Rover is on the wonder .

Yes, I think a dog could track a vehicle, especially something that will have a distinctive scent like a tractor. Dogs can even tell in which direction the subject they are tracking is moving.

Never mind the tracker. Working dogs need to be kennelled or chained up when not under your eye or you could find those working instincts directed where you don't want them to be....and that even applies to "old reliable". I have kept dogs here for over 40 years, sometimes over 30, and although I am surrounded by livestock farmers, have never had a serious incident (touch wood). Training is essential.
