Grain store bait bags

I know we are supposed to use these to help decide whether to spray grain stores with insecticide pre harvest, but i have never had the confidence to trust them and always spray. I have never had a grain store insect problem and don't want one.
But, spraying insecticide when it's not needed is bad practice. So should I have more confidence in bait bags?

I learned this lesson the hard way. Put bait bags down, found no bugs in a very old building so didn't spray. Had bugs in the grain. Now, I put the bags down anyway because I have to, then treat every store every year. It's far more friendly and means a lower dose of insecticide used than for treating bulk grain post harvest.

Am rolling over 500 tons of wheat, - moisture 14.2ish. Should I be concerned about insects at all at this stage? Never rolled over before. Also never had a rejection for infestation.

What temp? Mites are a concern? Obviously now is probably the worst time of year and therefore be very alert. Wish i had 500t or even 50t of wheat to roll over.

To be honest, it's a bit late now to be worrying about mites if it's been stored since last harvest. If you haven't done so already, set out traps for mites etc.
The other main factor is the storage temperature - knowing that my crop would kept until now I blew it a lot last winter until it was about 5-8 C, presumably you did the same, otherwise the mites may have had a field day.
