Grain Weevil

We’ve just cut our spring wheat yesterday and it’s got a few hollowed grains and weevils in it. It’s been dried and in a heap next to my winter wheat. What do I do? Move it to another shed and treat it?

I’ve never seen grainstore bugs coming straight out of the field but I guess they must come from somewhere!

Drying will have helped, but it needs gassing then running over a cleaner.

Make sure you spray round the shed where it was if you move it.

on closer inspection it’s not a grain weevil it looks like a clover weevil from the ahdb pest guide. Which it claims are non damaging or stray pests!

I’ve used k obiol on the heap and b put it back through the aspiration for safety though

Seen lots of clover weevils this year. They won't put holes in your grain and they wont survive the storage period (or a squirt of K-Obiol)

You could still get a rejection for dead bugs in the sample though.
