grease gun

can anyone suggest a pistol grease gun for 400 cc cartridges that is reliable?

Alemite seem reliable, though I've been using the lever version instead of pistol grip. Only reliability issue I've had so far with them involved a gun getting run over by a flail mower.

I’ve got a John Deere one that is lasting well. I appreciate there’s extra cost for the brand but I was in one of those ‘can’t be arsed’ moods and just grabbed it off the shelf. Put a longer pipe and an alemite connector on it and it’s behaving well.

Seems a common issue with grease guns that none of them come as standard with the long enough flexible hoses and everyone has their preference on couplers.

A grease pipe with male nipple on one end and 4 jaw fitting on other end is useful to have in the toolbox.

I got an air one with a 50lt tub. 6m of hose or so. Lives just inside the workshop door.

Quite literally the best thing ever.

G coupler was a nice so long as you can hold the couple comfortably. I have several machines which were a pain to keep the spring compressed while reaching awkward nipples. I have a Lumax coupler now which isn't spring loaded. Just flick the lever up out to release and in to grip. Still not perfect for every nipple, but best I've used so far.

The standard alemite coupler with an angled nipple screwed into the end is a useful addition for the remaining awkward nipples.

3 alemite pistol grips here, oldest must be 10 years old. Any time I use anything else I remember how impressed I was with the first one. Spaldings supplied mine, also spare ends when they wore out.

sheesh, love my macnaught K7 minilube with quick connect tip, not to heavy, plenty of reserve with 2.5kg reservoir and selectable pressure/volume application on the gun.
