is this show worth £69?
That depends on whether you get more than £69 worth out of it.

It does cost quite a bit more compared to arable shows such as Cereals an Tillage. Tillage was pretty poor value for me last year though despite being one of the cheapest. I doubt Agrii will hand out free tickets for Groundswell any time soon.

Last year I came away with a list of things to further consider (any one point could save or generate far more ££ than the tickets), a far better prespective on the reletive disturnace and seed covering of different drills (so far that has helped saved at least 360 times the ticket price on a new drill) and just hearing Tony Renolds comments and Fraulein Brehm waxing lyrical were worth it as day out.

If followed the agronamists surgestion and was just looking for plough, then probably not.

I really enjoyed it last year, this year my attendance is dependent on the arrival of my heir!

But if they get 1000 people through the door, £70k in takings for the effort in coordinating and organising such an event is not outrageous? Though I note the ticketing company would want £15k of that in fees, probably be better to take cash on the door!

We set up Groundswell to create a Show that we'd actually want to go to ourselves, as there was (and still is) no other Show which focusses on no-till, mob-grazing and other soil regenerating practices in quite the same way. We are limiting the numbers to 750 each day this year, as we'd struggle to fit any more in. Once the tickets are sold, that's it, the shutters go up. We set the company up as a not-for-profit business, so any surplus gets rolled back into the next years show or related projects. It's not a particularly cheap thing to put on, flying speakers in from round the world, converting barns into conference halls (after a fashion), security fencing etc etc

£69 buys you about 300kg of urea at todays prices. If you pay attention to, for instance, Christine Jones's talk, you'll save that £69 over and over again, whilst improving your soil and the quality of your produce. It's not for everyone, you've got to be prepared to think a bit and occasionally leap into the unknown. One of the great things about Groundswell is the other people there, most of the exponents and early adopters of no-till will be on hand to talk to and share ideas with. There are plenty of advisors all over the country who'll tell you no-till/ mob-grazing etc won't work (and most will have a vested interest in selling you something you don't need). Groundswell is a coming together of farmers who would rather farm in the interest of their soils and bank balances. This is a farmer led revolution. Please don't come if you think £69 is expensive. You'll get the VAT back and it's tax allowable too (and if you're not making enough profit to pay tax, you probably ought to come and get some ideas about how to change that)
can you buy tickets on the gate? or is it online only?
It looks like it's going to be sold out, so buying online is the only way to guarantee entry

Well I'm coming with Dad and really looking forward to it! Giving Cereals a miss as I always spend the 3 hr drive home struggling to think of much that will make us change our ways. This, I'm sure, will be completely different. Good idea to limit numbers too. Price of ticket is less than one blade for my NZ no-till drill!

Really enjoyed last year so I'll certainly be along. Although if the compost loos are making a reappearance then I'll be bringing my own toilet roll and commode.

Rest assured, we've splashed out on proper loos this year - with seats, loo roll and even that weird blue chemical stuff

Are both days going to have different speakers? Thinking of coming up for both days, will book early this time.

Simon, you can find the list of speakers on both days here . Full schedule will be announced next week but this gives an overview of who will talk on what day, and what they'll be talking about.
