I’ve been offered some ground next to a block I rent off my landlord. He has it in a stewardship scheme. Does anyone know what the amount of N you can put on, in this scheme option. If I take it on, I have to supply fert and landlord spreads it.

I haven’t agreed anything and I can’t find anything online about it. There is a bit in the manual about 9kg/ha but I read that as if being applied as well as FYM, but I might have misinterpreted it.

This suggests that you can't do both. Either 9 kg/ha N or 12t/ha FYM

Thanks @Brisel
I re read it a few times last night and came to the same conclusion.

@Formatted If i can get it cheap enough then like you, its worth it, but the cutting date retrictions etc means it will needs to be cheap!
If it could be tightly mob grazed it might become diverse and productive over time but otherwise it'll surely be almost worthless under those restrictions? It would be interesting to see how well that management option achieved the intended outcomes after 5 or 10 years.

No fences or water infrastructure currently there. It would have potential to graze- my grandfather and Dad used to farm it!
Im only looking to secure a bit more hay/silage as it’s local and I’m keeping all the cattle at home, as I’m now at a stage where I can keep everything at home and that gets first shout on the mob grazing! (Even though it’s all owned by the same same landlord! 🤣)

How bad is the public access? Would it work with mobile water and electric fence?

It could do, but there is public access on one bit. They are also spread out on 3 separate blocks so movement would be a bit of a pain. It would involve portable handling yards and trailering them. Also, if I don’t have any younger stock mid summer it would mean splitting the breeding herd while the bulls are in.

I've never 'weed wiped' but would anyone know the difference?🤷
Our agreement started this Jan, last week I went spreading fym and spread some in a field in GS2. It was only when I came out I suddenly wondered if I had done the right thing.......😳

Thanks @Brisel 👍

As with all board games it can be helpful to know the rules inside out, if one intends or might by chance cheat. It is why my brother in law was always won the annual Xmas game of Monopoly that ripped the family apart and ensure ongoing resentment during the year, until the following Xmas when he would yet again get the Monopoly board out for the annual challenge. I always told myself to sit down during the summer and read the rules. Never did. Always lost.

Still feeling a bit sore?

For the record
This is year one for something new to me and will take getting used to. At 3pm, 5 load of dung In the yard i wanted out and that was the field available.
I didn't think, that's all. Hardly cheating, in fact not cheating at all!
And it's over 10 years since I've blanket sprayed a pp field for thistles. I top them these days.

Family Monopoly - deadly serious!! Am surprised over the years there hasn't been a murder!!

Sorry, I shouldn't have used the word 'cheating' didn't mean it nastily. Just the first word that came to mind.

Cheers.
