Has anybody struggled to save their emails?

I was wondering if you might have because I hate having to sign in to microsoft etc. to use anything when I shouldn't have to. Anyway I used to have no trouble downloading an email onto my computer but they've obviously changed somethin but I sussed it out in the end. I use Firefox but this may give some clues to others about the easiest way to resolve the problem.

Click the 3 bars above the email you wish to save>click print>at the bottom click print again>right click and screenshot>save full page>Download.

The trouble with that is they love to collect all of your data. There's too much intrusion into peoples lives these days. Did you know they've started putting cameras in the supermarkets. Facial recognition here we come!

Same at the bank, the chocolate teapot on the helpline said I had to sign up to biometrics to transfer more than £5k. If that’s the case, I’ll be closing the accounts. Oh actually sir, there is another option available. Feckin chancers.

same with this “sign up to let us monitor the carbon footprint of your spending and you’ll get a reward” aye? then a big kick in the nuts further down the line. Can’t believe folk fall for it.

Me neither! They've been doing it for longer than I can remember. One of the worst ones was when they re-introduced the poll tax by calling it council tax.

I am not very tchnical but there is software you can use to stop servers (?) accessing your computer. One is Little Snitch and I think another is Lulu, I think. I did manage to use the previous version of LS but it's now been upgraded and I am not so confident.

This was useful!

Also, if you go into settings, then privacy, you can switch off all of the app permissions.

If all this surveillance bothers you (it does me) then try (difficult) to get people to encrypt the emails, they then will only be visible in the mail client, such as Thunderbird (the mail client I use).

Emails are all stored as plain text on servers (unless encrypted, as above), governments, hackers, server admins etc, can see all your emails.

Also bin whatsapp, that program scrapes all data from your phone and is sold globally by facebook.
data like where you live, how much time you spend at each location, all your phone book data, SMS, ISP you use, the list is almost endless.
Who you sms or phone when at a location etc etc.

And don't get me started on Alexa type devices...

Thanks for the tip. I've never trusted whatsapp or Alexa. They both looked like spy-machines to me. The same goes for those Amazon Ring doorbells. Turns out I was right. :)

Tosh. Whatsapp uses end to end encryption, so it's probably the most secure form of communication you can have.

disagree, whatsapp gives your texts to governments if asked, that's how these political things get out. (so encrypted in transit, YES, after that I doubt it)
Also the whatsapp app that you install on your phone is a data scraper, it collects all the data in the background and is sent to facebook for sale.

You only have to google for 5 secs to discover this.

If the government/security services/law enforcement want access to your texts, they will get access. They will raid your house and seize all your devices or maybe even try to hack your devices remotely. ALL internet providers are obliged to turn over information on their customers if a court so orders them to do so. It is how criminals are traced and eventually caught. Whatsapp is end to end encrypted, as are certain other ways of using the web, but there is more than one way to skin a cat and more than one way to catch a fish, too.

There probably is a backdoor in Apple messaging/Whatsapp by now put in by the developers. What are you sending via whatsapp that is so sensitive anyway?

I had to check the date on this post , we had cameras in the farm shop over 40 years ago, and probably late coming to the party.
Yes, I know what you mean but I'm talking now about a surveillance camera on every automated self-serve checkout. The excuse is that people are putting through more expensive items and cheating the supermarkets but if they'd never installed the check-outs in the first place and replaced peoples jobs with machines, there wouldn't be a problem.

Do you want to sit on a supermarket check out then?

Personally I don't want to use a checkout. I don't need someone to scan my goods and I wouldn't want someone to have to sit there all day doing something so utterly mindless on my behalf either.

I use a Mail server to gather my email accounts. Apple Mail, which gathers Apple, Gmail and Outlook Mail accounts to one app. I could do the same with Gmail and Outlook but since I use Apple products and my main email address is an iCloud one, I stick with Apple Mail and iCloud. I only have to click on the Mail app on whichever device I’m using and all accounts and mailboxes and mail is there instantly.
It is of course possible to access all the accounts through their own websites through a browser but I only do that if using another person’s device as a guest.
