What are you cutting hardwood or softwood?

Them grab type shears haven't got the power of the likes of a TMK or OMEF. I've got a 300 OMEF and it'll struggle on hardwood much bigger than 200mm but softwood it'll chomp through 300mm no bother .

I know someone with a good grab type it's a JAK and he's had a shot with mine and he says he'd have to have a go at it from each side to do what I can in 1 go at times

If you’re talking about the FETF grant you’d get a grant of a bit over £1900. It seems this year its 50% of their average price or 50% of what you pay, whichever is the lower figure. Well at least that's what I’ve been told. Not double checked for myself yet.

Got my tmk from ncd equipment, they selected the appropriate ran for my 8ton kubota's oil flow.
Have heard bad stories about wrong ram making for very slow shearing.
300mm on 8 tonner seems a good match to weight of tree cut
