Hay price per tonne

What’s the current rate off the field baled? Northants. Trying to work out if it’s viable to do a late cut on a 50ac field. We sold cut 1 for silage, cut 2 just gone today as hayledge and now thinking whether a straight hay is viable? I’d be using contractors to make the hay for me other than putting some N on now we’d do ourself.

It'll be well into September before it would want cutting again, which would be a gamble for making hay I would have thought, especially from lush, young regrowth.

There must be plenty of fodder about in most areas, which will only depress prices. Letting it for sheep grazing in the Autumn might be a better option, if there are any locally?
