make sure you have the correct insurance, local hire firm had one hired out to a farmer who stuck someone on it not used to kit, bent the fore arm and distorted all the pins because he hadn't put the breakback into float. farmer ended up paying lost hire and damages to the machine as a result....

Wouldn't most insurance policies cover implement attached to the tractor

If you have comprehensive cover on the tractor then any decent tractor policy will cover the implement comprehensively whether on road or off road. No exclusion for muppets driving either! The continuing hire charges claim whilst machine is being repaired is more of a gray area. Different Insurers will take different views on that part of the claim.
