Can you help identify a small problem in an hornbeam hedge I planted 5/6 years ago. It’s a 30 metre stretch that’s planted where a rose hedge was previously. The first picture affects about 3 plants. Is it thirsty? The second only on one plant. Tia

Galls on second plant - no long term significance, not a problem, I think it is hornbeam mid-rib gall - mite induced, no significant damage

First picture, not disease, drought, herbicide or stress - however I think it is the snappily named Hornbeam leaf vein distortion gall caused by a mite, no long term significance.

Not worth attempting to treat.

Have oodles of hornbeam hedge, ordinary galls common enough I have never seen the leaf vein distortion one though.
