HELP .... Farmplan cloud : any alternatives?!

This is Mrs Trigger Happy.

We have been running on FP business manager for accounts for many years now and have started on the Farmplan Cloud since our new accounting year 1st April.
Needless to say I have totally failed to successfully get to grips with it yet and have 3 businesses pending Aprils accounts that need to go through before the end of May

Are there any alternatives, preferably not cloud based (because I am a hippy and the world is going to end on a cloud)?
There was absolutely nothing wrong with FP business manager; did everything I wanted when I wanted it and rarely stuck messages up telling me I couldn't do this that and the other that I was trying to do!

Does need to have MTD submissions and record accounts with customisable heading/enterprise codes.

Doesn't need to do payroll, link to bank account, produce invoices or promise to hold my hand when I need to go for a pee!! :notworthy:

Bonus if it is so self explanatory I can get 6weeks of office work entered in to it in the next 10 days!

Thanks for any advice.

father still does my accounts for me (keeps him busy doing something thing)
He moved to xero (quite a few years back now) and seems very happy with it.
He's getting on a bit and not brilliant with computers, but seems to manage it easily.

What I will say about it, with cloud stuff, when the computer breaks (which they all do), you can just login on another PC and carry on.
With desktop installed apps, you have to recover from backup which needs to be separate from PC (usb stick maybe).
Then 'is this last backup upto date?' question comes along etc etc.
You also need a another PC with the program installed, then there is an activation key you have to get past etc etc.
It's just generally a hassle.

I’ve used xero in other countries. Am really not worried about it being in the cloud. Was asked a question about a bill this morning, I was in the dairy so just used my phone to log in. Could have used the dairy computer if i wanted

Just had the conversation with Farmplan for similar reasons. Got a 4 month year this year for tax reasons. Rang them, where do I alter the year end date? Er, you can’t. Seriously? WTAF? I’ve had a puter since the 80s and 40 years later Farmplan can’t alter a year-end date?

No way am I continuing to support their business and the CEO will be getting an email explaining exactly what I think of their comedy outfit. Cloud? They obv don’t have a dodgy tinternet connection like many of us do. Bollox to that.

Software updates? If you didn’t keep updating then the software wouldn’t be broken in the first place. You will own nothing and be happy…

Try Landmark Systems- they have KEYPrime (on premise) and KEYinfinity (cloud based) at various levels, covering various levels of requirements.

I am still using Farmplan cash manager but have been told no longer supported.
What have others done?
Farmplan cloud, xero, quickbooks or others?
Many thanks

I wondered about Xero but really didn’t want any sort of internet platform for reasons of tinternet reliance.

Decided on Sum-It but have had big issues around installing the software which haven’t been resolved yet. Apparently it’s just my piter configuration and something to do with virus software, which is the world’s largest security software…

They’ve sent me a mini-puter which I can switch in and out of though but haven’t got it up and running yet. So I’ve not really helped have I? 😅

If you want an accountant that uses Farmplan, try Harris and Clark in Northampton. May not be the closest to you but they seem to work for us and they will be a good 3hr drive away.

I know this is an old thread, but switched to Farmplan business cloud from their cash focus program, must say I have been pleasantly surprised how quickly I picked it up, and how well the bank feed works. Price seems a bit steep compared to some of the desktop accounts packages I have used over the years, but that seems to be the way of the world, and I think it has halved the time I spend on doing the accounts.

I’m still on Business Manager (and happy with it) How much longer have I got with it?
Farmplan 💩 on their Cattle Manager customers. Are they about to do it again?
