Horsch sprinter motor overload???

Just started drilling today and typically I have a full hopper and the screen keeps saying motor overload…7-8kmh, 220kg/ha. Calibration range is 2-28k. Just checked and rotor is spinning freely; no obvious blockages around the rotor but can’t really check in the tank…any ideas?

I had similar whilst drilling beans, I put it down to a few small stones that got swept up with a spillage causing the rotor to jam slightly.
I carried on regardless and it all came up fine.

I’ve wiggled some wires and the wing nut holding the earth strap was very slightly loose(?) tightened that up; spun the rotor and doesn’t seem any resistance…touchwood no more beeping but I’m going a gear slower until I can drill the hopper empty and inspect for bits of debris/mouse heads in the rotor topside…

I’ve overloaded the motors by using unsuitable rollers on our drill, since been told by rep to use the ones the book says not to, and not to use the ones it says to use 🤔. Issues was mostly to do with fert/dust.

Common error I've had flag when drilling beans - as above just came to ignore it and never had any issues at all. Watched the "amps" number on the screen and never really seen it spike up very high so see no issue at all with carrying on.

Ran it empty; nothing in the bottom. Rang Horsch; could be a sign of the motor on the way out 🤷‍♂️

I wouldn't worry too much with what they say until the motor does decide to give out. I would be highly doubtful that's your issue.

Yes I’m reluctant to buy a motor but have asked for a price. Setup is identical to previous 5 years that I’ve had it so happy it’s not the roller. Trouble is when the overload warning comes on it blocks out the rest of the screen until you stop.

Make sure you're sitting down!!!!

What screen are you running?

I have an old black and white Muller screen and on there it comes up full screen, but then disappears after 5s or so on its own. Same as a seed blockage sensor does.

The only "error" that stays on screen and doesn't self clear is the low hopper warning.

Yeah same screen here. Sometimes it would disappear sometimes not. Unless it was still reading over amps?? Touchwood I’m still going and have only had one warning since 3pm. I’ve just remembered another error that popped up last Christmas in that the fan speed randomly reads around 2000 instead of 3000 and it’s started doing that now! Not beeping at me yet. Light is illuminated on the sensor in the fan; is it just a dodgy sensor?

Fan speed sensor may be correct if the fan doesn’t have sufficient oil flow to it. I had an issue with my hydraulic fertiliser spreader this year which was due to insufficient oil flow. Once I increased the flow my issues went away. Worth checking anyway.

We had a problem with a horsch pronto very similar. Changed the motor made no difference. After a lot of hassle and a horsch chap coming down the cpu silver box that connects to the screen was knackered. Unfortunately a new cpu box wasn't compatible with the old screen so had to have both. Problem never happened again.

I can up and down the flow on the tractor and hear the fan responding but the fan speed doesn’t alter

Interesting. New motor £529.77. I bet the screen AND box of tricks would have been a fair old cost?

I’m sure I had this when we first had our sprinter and it was recommended to change the bearings in the motor which I did. Certainly not had any issues since 🤷‍♂️
