Stop making it sound so damned easy.............

He's right, it really is that easy. We fatten a couple of Duroc weaners in the shed each summer. I wouldn't have them outsides they'll trash wherever you put them, but a leccy fence would keep them on one trashed patch easily enough.
I throw food at them twice a day, muck up their tidy mucking spot every now and again, and throw a slab of straw in for them to play with occasionally. That's about it really.:)

Whether it's financially any better than just buying meat though.....:scratchhead:

But you know its been looked after ,not fed drugs to fatten

So we have now gone from one pig to two and they should be gilts, straw plus barn, deckchair, the Swine Law,Pig Retention Certificate,ex-lawyers fees for advice, extra risk of inspection, now we are getting somewhere.........Does actually sound fairly straightforward so far ,unfortunately.
Triplesix,we have a pack of dogs that terrorise anyone walking past the house down our farm tracks and there are lots, the thought of a Basset, two collies ,three JRT's and a couple of outdoor pigs all chasing after American tourists for a pat is quite appealing. How do you keep the things inside the fence?Always thought they were escape artists and fairly destructive with it.

Ours have never escaped!

Having a large area helps, even if the sheep have found a hole and escaped, the pigs are always in.

Pigs or horses
Pigs are Far safer to ride ( not so far to fall )

I don't know about that. I rode a pig for a while. She cost me a huge amount of money, self respect and very nearly my sanity.

Back on topic, I've done a few pigs in the back garden. Always a pair at a time. They are great fun to watch, love a good scratch and very very tasty.

The young lady who has taken over our local pub came round to take some publicity photos with our pigs for her Facebook page, as we supply her pork, bacon and burgers. She finished up adopting a runty piglet, which now lives in a sty in the beer garden at the pub. He's becoming quite a celebrity locally!
That not illegal to have a pig alone poor thing

I don't think the pig is missing other pigs at all. He has a better life than plenty of yard dogs, and certainly has had a longer life than his siblings, who were sausages long ago! The young lady has registered herself and her premises for pig keeping and had"Charlie" castrated , under anaesthetic, by the Vets. When the weather was cold he moved into the pub's porch at night.:)

That's awesome. What's the pubs name? If I'm ever in the area I'll pop in and check out His Pigginess.
