How many farmers have had a formal university education?

I have only a-levels, but I turned down a place at uni to do civil engineering to go farming! I could have done it, but didn’t. I suspect there are many like me out there, had the ability, but not the desire. I don’t think my iq has faltered because of it! The days of sending the smart ones away to make a living and allow the dunce to farm are long gone. Farming now is not only knowing land and animals, and what to do with them, but also the myriad of paper that surrounds it. Paperwork and getting dirty don’t often go together, but farming is one of the places it does!

BSc(Hons); Dip. Law; Barrister. I 'escaped' farming and then came back when I realised my mistake, and could afford to...

I know of lots on here with a degree, most not in Ag. Of my five immediate farming neighbours, two have degrees, one Ag. and one in history. In the wider area, most of those on the bigger farms have degrees,' HA don't you know' ;), most of the smaller ones don't.

I am guilty of typos Wally, I admit that but, unlike you, not lies and hypocrisy, nor moral cowardice*... Hey @alex04w he's calling me - in fact us - liars again... someone irrelevant has written something that doesn't matter, oh how will we survive...

*All my offers to you are still open, but you never do or will come up to proof. Funny little fellow. :)
Let's examine cases again.

I live and practised locally,so that I am widely known as authentic - I am who I say I am. If you are who you claim to be, you know this to be true anyway, because you live in South West Wales; any lawyer over 50 will say, if asked, "ah, Walterp, yes I recall him...".

You, by comparison, make various claims yet decline to prove any of them.

I reckon you are a fantasist. And, perhaps, a liar to boot.

Otherwise you would not be so shy.

I ask because yesterday I was on the way to Cheltenham and I drove past what looked like a farming university, so I was wondering if anyone on this forum has ever had any kind of university education doesn't have to be specific to farming

I'm going to take a punt and suggest around 35% but I'm not a farmer so that's a very speculative guess

@Danllan has supplied me with the evidence that he is a qualified barrister who has been called to the bar. He HAS proved his claims. You on the other had cant even post under your own name. You state there are those who say "ah, Walterp, yes I recall him...". That is obviously a lie as Walter is not your name. So come on, what is you name - allow us to check out and prove you are or ever were a solicitor.

You criticise Danllan for not being able to spell practise, but you, in the past, could not accept that you do not know that a barrister is not an officer of the court. You claim to be a solicitor but do not even know the workings of the Courts.

You did not accept my assertion of this fact of Danllan's professional standing then and you still do not now. Why is that? Says more about you than it does about Danllan.

Wow Alex! I bet you have binge-watched the Poirot TV series. This is building up to a fascinating (NOT) denouement.

That's very shy of you.

The problem is, now, that if you don't disclose your info we can never judge - we will just be left to assume that you had to inherit a place (in society, as well in the countryside) rather than earn it.

How I came to be here is if no concern of you nor anyone else.
Nor is it of any relevance.
I merely posed the question of whether you were assuming qualification equals education.
I must say it’s surprising for a solicitor to so freely judge and assume but I suppose it takes all sorts

On a past thread, Walter (mitty?) claimed that a barrister was an officer of the court. They are not. When @Danllan proved this from the Bars own paperwork, Walter could not accept it and hit back by alleging that Danllan was not even a barrister.

Danllan supplied me with evidence that he qualified as a barrister and was called to the bar. Walter refuses to accept that a barrister is not an officer of the court and refuses to accept that Danllan is a barrister. No rocket science there and no binge watching Poirot needed.

On a separate thread, Walter stated he could not possibly be a member of this Forum after one of his posts was deleted following several complaints about it. However, he is back again! Following his statement that he could not be a member of this Forum, a moderator made it clear that Walter is not Walter's name.

Again no rocket science or Poirot like work needed to determine who the imposter is and who is claiming to be things they are not!

Just a little aside! I told the assurance inspector a few years ago my qualifications. His retort was 'that would be a degree now!!'

Ha ha ha ha ha.... I have met plenty of well educated people I would quietly consider as thick as two short planks.

You don't have to be particularly bright to do a degree, just determination and farmers have plenty of that.
