Its quite common on this type of forum.......Id say the op has a major attitude problem
AND VERY PATIENT - sales people will have a LOT of poor days....You may be good with numbers, but I would suggest that to be good at sales you also need to be good with people.
Seems you`ve got the measure of the job without coming on here, well done!Which counts for nothing there shouldn’t be any reason that a very good representative couldn’t earn £200k + but an average one earning around £50k ish.
£200k for a repIts quite common on this type of forum.......

Some of the quite worrying recent news of machinery dealers going t*ts up posted on here makes me think there might not be many reps on £200k plus....
Anyway, CRACK ON!!!! I sometimes think other people`s job`s are so much easier than mine.....
Best tell all what you do now and what it pays then, as a gesture of good faith.,.,.Don’t really want people guessing I want to hear from people who actually know because we all know how that will go.
Feckin hopeless with people though. The financial side could be an option as I am very good with numbers
Not necessarily if they are very good at the job and have good relationships with their customers and a good knowledge of what they are selling.Too much
The main criteria for selling to farmers in particular is to be likeable, pretty much anything else can be forgiven. If they dont like you, they wont buy much from you.You may be good with numbers, but I would suggest that to be good at sales you also need to be good with people.
On the first point not at all I’m very thankful to people who actually answer my questions. Its quite common on this type of forum.......

To clear things up I am on the customer side and contemplating a new challengeBest tell all what you do now and what it pays then, as a gesture of good faith.,.,.
Not necessarily if you look at the people who have answered my question I’m very thankful and appreciate the benefit of their knowledge.Feckin hopeless with people though.
I'd suggest a different career as you do come across as a complete arsehole, not the kind of talent a successful salesman needs.
Yes I understand it would be a long hard slog was just wondering would it be worth the bad years to get established and provide a decent living. If you’ve little or no sales experience don’t expect to earn good money in machinery sales to start with. You will have to build relationships before people are likely to buy from you meaning any commission based earnings will be minimal. Not much more than minimum wage with a laptop and phone may be all you get to start with, a company vehicle may also not be made available until you are established either.
I’ve recently come out of the sales industry after a few years in it and gone back to operating machinery for a much easier life and better earning potential. It’s a very tough job to work in currently given the situation the industry is in and a thick skin will be required for some of what you have to deal with in the role.
Absolutely not just someone who is contemplating a new challenge and looking for advice from people in that role who wish to share their knowledge. This looks like another click bait thread that crop up now and then.
Because some people believe it or not are actually prepared to share their knowledge and help others along. If you look at my replies to the people who have tried to answer my question or to pass on advice I am very thankful and appreciate their responses
What's the point of asking for information that will always be a confidential agreement between the employer and employee even though you already have an insight to what the answer might be. The only way you're going to find out is applying for and being offered a job in tractor/machinery sales.
At this point I refer you to the very first reply from @Dave W you so rudely shot down. A long standing member on here who makes a living in sales and happily passes on and gets good knowledge from the membership. That's what this forum is all about. Having been a member for a short number of weeks I don't suppose you would know that of course. It may be ok on other forums but that's not the way to act here if you wish to seek any more advice.
Fwiw. my advice would be a change in attitude would be required to survive and prosper in any ag. related sales.
Yet you shot down the very one who's in sales, earns a living from selling, answered your question and passed on his advice.Because some people believe it or not are actually prepared to share their knowledge and help others along. If you look at my replies to the people who have tried to answer my question or to pass on advice I am very thankful and appreciate their responses
This is no way to treat any potential customer if you intend going down the sales route. There’s always one
Only trouble is I don’t remember putting 50p in
