How to get the population to deliberately infect themselves with Covid - Give them £500

It isn't against all the new variants.
Its a virus like the common cold it mutates

It isn't neccessarily against the Virus either, doesn't stop the virus being caught even if you have had the jab nor does it stop you passing it on to others.

However it will reduce the symptoms for 90% or less of people - hopefully reducing hospital admissions.

I am don’t know about the detail of this proposal but there does seem
Some people are working when they have Covid because they need the money.

Hence the £500, I think it is a good measure allowing people to both recover and look after their community for the next 10 days without the fear of not being able to pay most bills.
I am not sure about the specifics of this suggestion but I agree with your basic point. The virus certainly seems more prevalent in low paid communities. Indeed a delivery driver told me in the first week of the first lockdown that there was “no way” he would stop work if infected because he “couldn’t bring up two kids on fresh air”.

People did it 20 years ago with foot and mouth, purposely infected their animals

That was because the valuations ( by so-called expert valuers) weren't just outrageous, they were criminal.

£500 for a scraggy shitty-arsed Swaledale gimmer hogg.

Having a suspicious nature I might think that giving £500 to anyone with Covid would lead to a false escalation of the numbers which in turn they would use to justify even harsher lockdowns. You will have to draw your own conclusions about whether harsher lockdowns are beneficial or detrimental.

People on low incomes are already eligible for payment although I think there are some gaps and delays in the system which should be rectified. Anyway this suggestion for payments across the board was only 'considered' and I think fortunately will not come to anything.
