Hunting goats and rams in Scotland....photo evidence

You’re judgement about whether you ‘like’ it or not is neither here nor there, and is in fact the big issue here and in our country
I wouldn't be so complacent @CopperBeech.

A sizeable body of people simply disliking something is a powerful motivating political force these days . That's how foxhunting got banned, that's how ferry companies suspend transporting live animals.

@Fallowfield has already suggested making it a criminal offence to take payment for a third party shooting one of your domestic animals on farm, he /she won't be the only one by any means.

You can't be surprised if that's where you end up due to photos like this .

Leaving aside any moral or ethical considerations from a purely mercenary point it matters because it affects how the consumer views the industry.

If you think the people who are involved in trying to promote Scottish livestock farming and meat production aren't pulling their hair out at this incident then you are a complete idiot.

I think you’ll find that the reason they may be tearing their hair out is that we live in a works populated by a vast number of complete idiots.

A ram was shot. This month over 1200 people died in an earth quake.....

?

Well whatdayaknow, it's so uncontroversial that it's been the lead on the ITV news.

She calls the UK public that don't agree with her "ignorant, " and that they're driving her off social media.

Her opponents say that she's not celebrating wildlife, she's exploiting it.

For those that think that this issue can bridge the opposing sides, it has to be in doubt.

I’m not being complacent, the hunting ban made me a criminal over night because a load of uninformed folk didn’t ‘like’ it. It’s just wrong!

I don’t like stupid people but I can’t get them banned!

And that’s a really sad state of affairs..... that makes lead story on the news.......

Post the audio please, you do have a fine way of interpreting things.

https://www.foodstandards.gov.scot/downloads/The_Wild_Game_Guide_1.pdf

its still wouldn't be classified as feral or wild as its been sheared recently.
.
‘Wild ungulates’ are hooved animals such as wild deer and feral wild boar but can also include certain feral populations of sheep and goats (see paragraph 6). ‘Lagomorphs’ are rabbits and hares. ‘Other land mammals’ are animals such as squirrels.

paragraph 6 states:

In certain parts of the UK, where wild sheep and wild goats exist, these animals can only be hunted as wild game under certain circumstances. If these animals are to be hunted as wild game and the meat is intended for human consumption, the animals will be subject to the controls contained in EU TSE legislation (Regulation (EC) No. 999/2001 (as amended)). If you are considering hunting these as wild game animals you should contact the FSA first to identify where such wild populations exist. You may then also need to contact your local authority to discuss how you can comply with the requirements of the TSE legislation

so again im fairly certain a ram would not be classed as wild. Also its been stated on the thread earlier that its not just BF rams available for shooting theres alos hebrideans and soays.

I would like to hear from the estate or gamekeeper/ghillie that let her shoot the blackie.
There are other photos on her instagram shooting huge red stags at the same place. They are not wild stags they look like park stags. Their antlers are huge compared to a wild animal.

Just for the record, I gather the estate where the animals were shot is on an island. Stags do indeed grow to unusual sizes where they have access to the shore line because they browse sea weed and so get minerals.

I've seen stags at around 23 stone on islands and there were probably heavier ones out there. So, sorry, can't agree. You will know how our own stock fares without access to minerals and trace elements.

They may or may not be complete idiots, but they fund sheep farming, either through buying meat or paying taxes that fund the subsidies.

You'd think a Welshman would be able to tell a wild sheep from a domestic one.

Well , ahem , cough cough, I might, or equally might not yer honour, have done a few things in my time that some may class as a little dodgy, but I wouldn't be stupid enough to splash it all over social media in an effort to promote myself .:rolleyes:

It all comes back to, if she hadn't none of this would be happening .

I think the big stags on her twitter are from Mingary castle so not Islay. A friend of mine, ex deer hunter, said to me that theres Elk in some red deer in Scotland. Obviously to improve their antler size.

People are so weird!

Was just on twitter and folk saying things to the girl who shot the sheep like -

“I hope you die screaming” etc.

I mean really? You’re such a nice lovely, moral person that you are SO outraged by a sheep getting shot that you wish a person you’ve never met or known, would “die screaming”?

And the woman who shot the sheep is an immoral sick weirdo?

People need to seriously get a grip and have a word with themselves!

The Great Lost Art of Keeping A Secret.

Keeping a secret doesn`t get "social media exposure". Ergo...you get less free things. She`s very savvy with all her #hashtags etc... no such thing as bad publicity for the suppliers/sponsors. If some individual has to "take the storm"....then so be it.
