Hydraulic gear motor help

I have this gear motor on a seeder unit, what does the valve do on the end? I am wanting to reduce the amount of oil going to the return as the oil flow rate is really high and want to reduce the tractor flow.
This should allow me to keep the oil pressure at a reduced flow.

Can you try explaining again what you want to achieve.
It's the motor spinning too fast?

but looks like that one will only take up to 60lm what would be your pumped flow atm ?

.when plumbed in correctly (will need another 'short cut ' return pipe to take the offshoot oil ) just twiddle the knob and choose the speed you want it to run at..

You should be able to adjust the speed of the motor on that valve, if you want to reduce the flow going to the motor but keep the motor speed you can do this by adjusting that valve.

I did it on a horch drill fan motor once that had miles too much back pressure on the return line despite me upgrading the size of the return pipes and all the fittings the return pressure was still too high, adjusting the relief valve on the motor increase the motor speed while allowing customer to reduce the oil flow on the tractor spool, the result less oil going down the return so no back pressure.

It's either a pressure relief or a flow control valve. There should be a part number stamped on the motor which will help identify it.

That is exactly what I am trying to achieve. It is a relief valve which altered noting when adjusting, so I dismantled it and put it back together and now it works!

I know the horch one worked backwards to how you would expect, sure you screwed it out to increase speed and screwed in to reduce
