I hope you soon make a speedy recovery (y)

Tonsils are evil barstewards - I understand having an appendix, but what do tonsils actually do, that's of benefit?

(Other than icecream...)
I'm not sure what they do... and I can't be bothered to google it. I know they get in the way of deep throating things and get very hurty several times per year - two very valid reasons for removal.

The tonsils are at the back of the throat, one on either side. ... As part of the immune system, the tonsils fight infection; they are first line of defense in the throat, and when they are doing their job fighting infections, you get a sore throat.

One of the reasons its "on the list" of ops that are more risk than benefit.

Possibly a bit late to impart that news to @smcapstick ....... :)

Nice socks.

My daughter has managed 20+ years without hers, stop fretting, although she did have glandular fever a few years later.
...so I'll NEVER die?

Haha, that reminds me when my wife was having IVF. Of course, I went along for the egg collection procedure. Was supplied mandatory gown, and duly wore. A nurse then asked why I had taken off all my clothes, when I only had to wear it over my clothes! My backside was hanging out too:asshat::wtf::facepalm:

I always get the viral infection of tonsillitis, so nothing I can do, but it sure does make you feel completely sh1te, which is a bummer when there's only numero uno to do all the jobs...:dead:
They might have tried you for eggs!
