I admit, I have a workshop tool addiction :-)

Are the plasma torches universal like mig welders?
No. many modern ones use a Euro connector like a MIG welder but some new ones and most older ones have separate air and electric connections. I've just paid £200 for a new Traffimet torch for my old 3phase Sureweld and it had to be a specific type.

@Welding Supplies Direct should know more...

They're all on eBay as "working when last used. may need slight attention to....."
There are quite a lot in my 'might come in handy storage area' otherwise known as the long grass and nettles.
I could do with a thread titles 'Now where did I put that thing I bough cheap for a job and put somewhere safe?' Mainly some proximity sensors that have just bloody disappeared into thin air :(

i think there is a new thread there, stuff bought at auctions that actually worked

My best result was a Sip 500/50amp 12/24v battery charger/booster.
Mate saw it the skip at the local NH dealers yard, asks the foreman if he can have it "for spares" No problem. Drags it out, gives it to me as he's already got one.
I open it up, reattach the spade connector to one of the chargingl switches and bingo!!!! Didnt even need a plug or a fuse. That's about as lucky as I ever will get with used stuff.
