so moving over to one`s you just got
got some old carver clamps as well (y)

We’ve got some old 24” carver rack clamps, by heck they have taken some punishment! Also got some small Carvers, they are great, but just not quite as handy as the Bessey sliding clamps.

I’ve got Carver clamps too. Are Bessey better? I don’t know, they are on par with each other imo. I have gathered a collection of Bessey clamps now, from little 150mm ones to iirc 350mm, mostly with a grip handle, can’t recall the model, they are brilliant for general fab work for me. Equally useful weather I’m working with wood or metal.

These were at a good price and simply add to the collection.

They are out of the monthly Advantage paper that you get once you are an MSC customer. Not sure how to find it on their website? If you can’t, then I can post a pic of the item in the paper and you can call them up to order(y)
Imo you won’t find a better company to deal with than MSC, they are the benchmark for me as how to really look after customers. They have sadly been let down by DPD this last couple of weeks, but even then, the manner in which they have dealt with it has been exceptional.

Many thanks for the reply i have found them in the offers sheet, do you go for the cheap ones or the dearer ones? Tempted to try a pair and see how i get on.

These new ones are, according to the description, the Standard Duty. They are plenty heavy enough for me, ideal for general fab and general joinery. Not had the Medium duty. I’ve got other really heavy clamps if I need them and tbh I just couldn’t justify buying the more expensive ones. I’m not apposed to spending money on the right tools, but the expensive ones were a bit too much for simply ‘adding’ to the collection, different if I needed them specifically for a job.

These type of clamps really need winding up, unlike a G type cramp, you keep screwing the clamp up and effectively stretching it, it uses the L shaped bit like a spring, and it’s the spring force that’s helping keep the workpiece together and the clamp locked on the slide, if that makes sense?

I find these little ones dead handy...

Tbh I’ve not had any troubles with the red and black grip handle clamps, I find them very good. Maybe mine have not had enough use yet to wear out? But they certainly have been used! And not always as intended :D

And the gloves....
They are another great product imo. Now I don’t like wearing gloves, but when needs must then you want good ones(y) we have found these to be a great all round glove, warm enough in cold weather, thin enough to feel what you’re doing, surprisingly durable, not too expensive, if they get wet then they dry quickly and are good to go again, unlike a leather glove that goes like concrete. Really impressed with them, and even though they are thermal, they are our go to glove now all year round.

Also on a good offer this month from MSC;)

Do you have to order on the phone to get the special offer prices? Prices on the website are more than in the offers catalogue:scratchhead:

Don’t know tbh, I never order online. I always phone up and order, they are so efficient and on the ball, especially once you are a customer. They make ordering so easy.

I remember first setting up an account with them, it took seconds, I could hardly believe it! Just like that, credit account, bits next day. Super efficient company to deal with. So I always phone up, it’s just easier. You couldn’t do it online any faster, you are told instantly on the phone if the items you want are in stock, if not a date when they will be.

Contrast that with someone like Travis Perkins, I have a City Plumbing credit account, which is actually owned by Travis, in fact I pay my dues into Travis bank account! Can I have a Travis Perkins credit account?.....no sorry sir, fill out this extensive form! WTF.....

Was sick to death of blunt knives. So in a weak moment I went out and bought a pretty decent sharpener set up....

Excuse the mess area cleared on the not often used end of the bench in the cowshed(parlour) office.

My first post on this thread I'm not yet admitting to my workshop purchases :whistle:
@Irish NZ Does it work well, is a sensible price, work on 240v and does the company ship to Europe? I am fed up of blunt knives and NEED one of these.

It must be good. There's a sticker on the top telling you not to put it in the bin.

bolt it down @Irish NZ you don't want it to go flying if/when the mop grabs the blade.

It was$700(£350 approx) from cow care.co.nz not sure about postage but we run on 240v as well. The hair is missing from 1 arm from testing the edge

Wopa do 1 in the uk but it £580

Must get it bolted down, just testing the location.
Not on top of the flex though![emoji37]

Will those whetstone buffs do the same job? Bought one in Lidl but not out the box yet, is the wet stone too rough for occasional use on chisel faces etc.?

It's got rubber spacers under so the flex isn't being squashed. Need it running away from me not towards.

Wetstone should be sweet on chisel it's not so easy on a hoof knife with a curve.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
