Have the Welsh sheep on English estate turnips over winter with a local shepherd doing daily checks. It's not impossible when you think about it. I'm sure a well travelled man like @unlacedgecko would have a more educated & experienced view. The old stratification system of mountain ewes crossing with ever more meaty rams as they came down to the lowlands seemed to work ok.
I am not talking about grazing co operation, i am talking about political co operation.
The irish and french farmers are pretty homogenous, but the uk is totally different.
I cant see your landlord employer wearing a yellow vest and burning tyres in december on oxford street, he will be shooting or skiiing
And wouldnt let you do it either.

It’s called having your cake and eating it. A common problem when a land agent gets involved.
A businessman bought a small farm down the road from me , rang last year to see if I would top the place as his grazer had let him down. So I went to see the job, he asked if I would be interested in renting the spot and as we were low on crop this year I said OK but as it’s in a really s**t state and in full stewardship offered a token rent. Off he went to the land agent to get a contract drawn up and come back wanting 80/ acre despite it being covered in nettles, no fencing and no water, he would keep all payments and wanted extra for grazing in the winter. I said fair enough I’ll just bill for the work done
Thats a typical scenario
They ofter wait a yr though, till you havve got it looking nice

Why would we want to don a high vis vest and protest that the government should be doing this or that? It's up to us as an industry to deal with our own problems by working together, not whinging about it and expecting someone else to give us handouts. Together we stand. Divided, we fall. Co-operation starts inside the farm gate.

You really got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning!

Two years or so ago you were prediciting land was going to be worth 20,000 an acre, our "little" island is the 5 biggest economy in the world

Yes I did and I was right as it’s hit £22,500/acre around here. However Brexit could easily shaft that short term.

You seem to forget that the only reason that we get subsidies at all is because of militant french farmers who block roads and burn tyres.
Whether you agree with subsidies or not , without the french there would be none.
I personally would prefer no subsidies.

Fair play to the yellow vests, the got a result and forced macroini to withdraw his unfair revenue raising fuel tax dressed up as a climate change measure. When are the green party going to publish a list of bicycles suitable for pulling a five furrow reversible ?

Dont forget the irish, Back in the late eighties was part of an Irish contingent taking part at a farm protest in Brussels The French got stuck in , some of the younger Irish moi included felt oboliged to help out. Great crack , water cannon stone throwing, and riot police. The NFU contingent were nowhere to be seen.
