Ifor Williams vs Graham Edwards

This is my nugent, it has nice big anchor points that will take straps no bother; and useless rope hooks too.

I'm going to add internal lashing points myself, but God this was some waste of 12 pages.

The reason I choose nugent over ifor was down to tyres and tie down points.

My only negative about the tri axle nugent is that it uses 1200kg axles as opposed to 1500kg axles which are on my tipper.

I was told by Bradley who supply the axles that nugent opted for lighter axles as this gives a better ride empty as bigger cap springs will be worse.

Not sure, but I ran an 18ft ifor for years and hated it.

Can we not close this thread as it just seems to be full of petty arguments and is getting very boring!!!
To be fair this thread does delve into an important subject about using the hooks for attaching straps.
I have to admit to putting straps on the hooks for possibly 40 years. I can't remember ever bending or breaking one. Nope not one!
But that doesn't mean it's right to do it. Someone told me a couple of years ago they were stopped by VOSA and reprimanded for doing just that on a tractor trailer. But the trailer had places where it wasn't possible to attach to the chassis due to the design of the axles so VOSA said attach to the hooks if no other option.
So since then I have attempted to attach to the chassis when possible.

To be fair if @Cowabunga has it in writing from ifor williams that it's ok to use straps on hooks then its them in the wrong if it's not correct information.
It would be nice to hear from them to back up the information they have given.
Are they on here?

Both are sh!t
Both are the best thing ever
Dave down the road had a bad un
Mike over there had a good un
Someone sold theirs for more than they paid
Someone else had to pay to have theirs taken away
Another person wouldn't touch them with a dirty stick
.
And as useless as this post is it will be as useful as every post that will follow it ;)

Told you ;)

You're not wrong , it's just bad practise to rely on those poxy hooks when moving anything more than a few bales .

So after how many pages, it has gone from 'illegal' to 'bad practice'.
It isn't even that of course. Its a perfectly valid and safe security method and accepted good practice for light goods vehicles.

IWT outsell all other trailers added together. They are professionals. They are patently fit for purpose and it is quite absurd to argue otherwise.

Bet you wouldn't give a tupenny fudge if they weren't Welsh .

You are clutching at straws. To claim that the UK and probably European market leader was selling trailers that are not fit for purpose is absolutely the biggest load of tosh I've heard in ages. These attacks on the product are ridiculous and childish in the extreme.
