Improving grazing quality

Iv recently taken on a 3 acre field with poor grazing quality and a lot of it consists of fern.any tips to improve the quality of grazing? Sorry if it sounds a stupid question.im a newbie

Thrash it with a flail topper as short as possible. Put about a squillion sheep on it to finish that job, test for pH, lime it if necessary, lather it with muck and see what happens.
Apply the right chemical to kill what you don’t want.

Agree with the above, it sounds like it's all gone to sleep, great opportunity for a reset as there is not a lot to lose
