I have been reading through old threads on TFF and only found a few of mentions of BRD (but mostly by international members) and my direct farming experience is not in this area!

Is it a widely understood term in the context of calf health in the UK?

Didn’t know until I read this! However like many farmers I have known about Pneumonia since I was a lad.
One of the reasons we stopped calf rearing was the sheds weren’t ventilated well enough And it was a constant issue!

BRD, or Bovine Respiratory Disease, might not be as widely recognized by that specific acronym in the context of calf health in the UK, especially among those who are not directly involved in the veterinary or farming sectors. While it is a common term internationally and well-known in the veterinary community, farmers in the UK might refer to it simply as respiratory disease or pneumonia in calves. If you're communicating with a broader audience or individuals who might not be familiar with veterinary jargon, it might be helpful to clarify the term by using both the acronym and a brief description, such as "BRD (Bovine Respiratory Disease)."
