Increase in cost of ready mix and stone

Local stone supply companies round here are putting prices up on 1st January for quarried and recycled. Guess quarries are charging more (diesel price increased a lot in recent months) and haulage cost has added up too.

Be even worse next year if all quarry machinery has to be run on white diesel.

The question becomes if/when will things drop back again.

I think some things will fall back again (as someone mentioned on here timber has done so now), but others may not do so....or at least will take quite a while longer. I'm not too sure which goods to put in each category though.

Can't see stone dropping.
Concrete may fall a bit but stone price will firm the base
I expect steel will likely come back a bit in time

A lot probably depends on energy prices....which may well not drop for a year or so.

Who knows!

It's not helping the wider economy to recover that's for sure.

Do you think people that trade stolen diesel care what colour it is?
I would think white is going to be more tradeable to a wider fraternity than red !
They are all thieving scroats but if they can run on a stolen white rather than stolen red its going to be more of a target for them its going to be one less thing the authorities will have them on 'IF ' ever they were dipped !
