Infested ... and helpless. Ideas?

Yes … but like everything, they only work for a few days then the stewards become used to the squawks and alarm calls.

Going to try amplified Chinook helicopter noise at some point
What's your postcode?

I think you're missing some friends, will send them on, might be a bit hungry due to the delay with the postal strikes 🤣

We are long term suffers. Welded mesh on all gates 7 years ago which worked for 5 years. Now they're back! They will get through anything! I have even thought about trapping a few keeping them in a cage so they make distress noises to the others! Has anyone tried this scarer? https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01HPPV...ode=osi&th=1&psc=1&ascsubtag=ecSEPh10lbp7j6k9
It seems more fancy than the others (which haven't worked); nearly bought it but they wanted to charge £70 delivery- which pee'd me off!

we have just started to get some 'call in' late afternoon, shift them off twice, they go.

we have kept them off for the last 2 winters, and these are the 1st this winter, by just keeping on moving them out, as they land. They have to eat, by repeatedly moving them on, they can't feed, and they use more energy up, by repeatedly moving. They have no other option, than to find somewhere else to feed.

our neighbours have problems, and we feed TMR including maize and wheat. By using reverse phycology on the buggers, seems to work really well.
The bird flu might thin them out, but l hope they don't get it, as it will take the songbirds as well.

I think they’re slowly making their way to his farm. We’ve had them in this morning. I chuck lots of small, soft metallic balls towards them. Generally moves them on before they settle full time.

Can't you put up some nets to at least halt so many of the bar-stewards getting in? Poor old cows are gonna be brown and white spotted in no time.
went to one farm on the levels, his shed was completely netted, even the 'holes' to open/shut the door latches, they had learnt to use any small hole.

but that is their weakness, they have to eat to live, deny them time to eat, they have to move elsewhere.

How does a bird get zapped when it’s not earthed 🥴

Or do you hang alternate wires with an earth between?
He just got back to me he said he put up a length of 6+1 layed flat across between the uprights with some brackets and there’s rendering mesh on it for the earth he says lay will land on it for a perch before trying to get through the wire he can’t send pictures on his phone so I’ll pop down and take some if anyone would like to see it

@Bald Rick - I see in the press article from Jersey that they have the feed passages netted off there. Is that not possible with you?

Unfortunately not without vast expense and messing about as we perimeter feed on four sheds and are continually running up and down between them on various errands
And netting isn’t overly effective long term as they soon find a way in

I know its not going to be ideal but could you feed the cows at night for a few days?

Had them start here last week in the frost,i swiched to feeding the barley at night, they wont hang about long if they hungry
