Hope you have all kept your blood sugar in check over Christmas !! With food and chocolates and sweets everywhere mine has gone mad! I think I lack discipline! In fact I know I do. Anyway ,best wishes as you try and keep it between 4 and 7. ??

?? I am afraid I haven’t done the best job... Had better insulin response than usual which helps. 4-7, wow someone walks the line, maybe the one on the other side of the of the candy table... I’m afraid I saw larger numbers yesterday but oh well... I have an addiction for cinnamon flavored candy that raises it head around this time of the year......cheers

Carry Rowntrees' Pastilles with you at all times. The sugar coating gives an instant boost and the pastille keeps it going

then you have to eat them before they get too much lint stuck to them :hungry:

the problem I have is that I start talking sh1te and getting confused so someone has to rifle through my pockets to fed them to me!! So I don’t toe the line too closely nowadays and have plenty of warning.

My old friend is the same he starts to drop his head and utters the famous words " I am knackered", at which point I give him a pastille.
I also work it out for him that before he does anything strenuous like a longish walk, pastille first.
Even on holiday sitting on bus for 30 minutes plus, pastille just before we get off and walk or he will have a hypo.
You need to out think your problem and be proactive if you can.
Same as Heartburn, packet of refreshers (bicarb of soda) per gallon of beer.
I think I am one of Tescos' best customers for refreshers (5 for a £1) and pastilles for my friend at £1.30 for three I think.

The joy of hypos!!! When we go gathering the fell it’s like taking a lucozade factory!! @codyw what is cgm?
Does anyone else just feel like giving up with bothering ? today I haven’t had a reading under 20 and had 3 attempts at having an adjustment dose and it’s gone up!! :scratchhead: Have actually just thrown my insulin cartridge in the bin wondering if it is a faulty batch. First time I have done that in 20 odd years

Talking about faulty insulin I think I just got into some diluted Lantus.(24hr. Suspension stuff). Not sure... to answer your previous question. Continuous Glucose Monitor=CGM. I use Dexcom and have decent luck. Custom high and low alarms and history graph on your phone as well. My urgent low alerts are sent to my dad and brothers phones. My low glucose levels were at 27% when I used a blood tester and dropped to 1.5% with the CGM. I am surprised medical insurance companies don’t push them harder. A very very low chance of ever having a medical call because of a low blood sugar. (My guess is an ambulance call and Emergency room visit would pay for a CGM system and a half maybe.) $4,650 for my CGM for a year about here. The less I’m low the more sensitive I am to blood sugar drops or spikes. But at 25% less lows I’m figuring 25% more work accomplished?

My uncle is type one and has been for years, he has had some bad hypos but he has the sensor now and is so much better in controlling it.
We know as soon as he is getting low, but if you tell him he is getting low it flat denies it! Very annoying, then you have to trick him into eating sweets etc, it does have a funny side as it’s like he is slightly drunk and extremely sarcastic and funny, but then we have had to ambulance aswell which isn’t as fun, I’ve had a few wrestling matches trying to get an IV into his arm or stop him pulling it out!

Ah yes...... the denial. Thankfully I've grown out of that now.

It’s very frustrating, we have had fights with him as he has got lower, forcing him to drink orange juice and watching my mother get angrier with him and starting to pour sugar down his throat! We look back and laugh now as the sensor has stopped all this, the sensor doesn’t lie so he puts his trust in it which works well. He was getting low driving home from work quite frequently then turning up at home low, with the sensor he can monitor it as he leaves work and keep himself right.

i believe that technically he should be finger pricking before driving, cgms aren’t accurate enough according to dvla. Could be wrong but I only bring it up so that he ‘says the right thing’ if necessary.
Any idea which monitor he has?
