Please could any recommendations be given for good insurers to have a look into and get some quotes?
Looking at general farm insurance, but also selling meat boxes direct to customer.
Cheers

NFU Mutual are very good at helping with off farm retail. Not the cheapest but very clear what they cover.

The knockers will be along to tell you they are too expensive and others are cheaper but I have always found you get what you pay for especially when selling to Jo Public which is a tricky job if it goes wrong!

I'm not a 'knocker' but I've found Caleb Roberts very competitive and helpful .....did everything that the NFU would have done and also very clear in their advice on how to and what to insure . 01874622478 . ( and yes they were pounds cheaper )

There are only a limited number of Insurance Underwriters out there for farming risks. The majority of Underwriters do not understand Farming and that is why it is essential you have a good Broker/Agent working for you and converting your risk into a language the Underwriter understands.
Most Brokers will end up going to the same Insurers but can come up with different prices not based on commission levels paid but on how the risk has been presented to Underwriters. If a risk is already held with an Insurer they will not then provide a quote on it to another Broker , if they did they would be competing against themselves
