hello! (y)
I found this site by someone pm'ing me on fb after posing in an agric group, looking to start getting experience and gaining confidence in agric to live the life I wish... which has only really been on my mind to act now cause I got so sick in Morocco (like everyone else!!!) and decided after 3 years of working 6 months a year moving around the country, not having any stability it is about time I just do the farming career I have wanted to do for many years.. i won't bore you with any more details, my family are farmers, infact i have millions of second cousins I have never met on both sides of my family, so I need to investigate that!! (anyone from Wales with the surname Jones get in touch! jokes.. but anyone "Pritchard Jones".. do :)
Already this website has proved motivational and influential, thanks all :D

Hello and welcome!
Where abouts in the shire are you?

Hello, I'm Paul. I work for the NFU looking after our Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Linked In channels. I'm not a farmer but I'm proud to be working on behalf of British Farmers for the good of the industry and those in it.
I'm not in charge of policy so I can't change the way the NFU works. But I'm always interested to hear your thoughts on the things we say on social media and in the press. I'm @_paulbradley_ on Twitter. Pleased to meet you all.

Hi All,
This is my second ever post. As name suggests I'm not a farmer, no, I'm a Gamekeeper. Before I get shot down in flames for being on here, I do a lot of farm work, loading lorries, corn cart, even relief spraying, and yes I have my PA 2. I help move sheep and cattle, I also do all of my cover crops with a Claydon Hybrid, yes that's " I " do it, by myself. So there have been many times I have needed opinions etc, and this forum is brilliant for helping me out. I have purchased quads and trucks with opinions posted on here, and even looked on here to see how a JD ivt transmission works, so I don't look a right pr*ck !

And its always interesting to see how others farm, compared to ourselves. I love the way of life I have, and the way I see it we all have to get on in the farming game, we all make a living from the countryside, so the bit of knowledge I've learnt looking at this forum in the last couple of years has really helped.

Now have to don waterproofs on and go feeding in pouring rain, Love it,:)

Hey everyone,
I'm Stuart, 23 from south Bury St Edmunds area. I'm self employed and do the majority of work on one 5000 acre farm, recently became combine and sprayer operator as well as doing cultivations, topping and other land work.

Hello I'm Banana Bar from Bury St Edmunds, we employ S7ewie on our 50.7 ac farm. We grow wheat, barley, oilseed rape, sugar beet, blackgrass, sterile brome, barren brome, wild oats and a few cleavers. We use a 12 m Allman mounted sprayer although half the bronze nozzles are now worn so much it looks a bit like a pixie having a wee as it goes up the field. We have a really smart Clayson combine with a 12 foot cutterbar although it cuts a bit lop sided as we put an odd sized wheel on just after the Falklands war, when we cranked the studs up they went on cross threaded so I reckon it will stay like that until we can find an odd size for the other side. We also have a massive Allen Scythe mower that is
known as the "barsteward" we cut all our margins with this as well as some contract mowing.
Alongside this we have a flock of sheep, there are sixteen broken mouth ewes in total and only half of them are lame, the tup we have is a massive old boy and when he walks around in the snow his balls act like a snow plough. We have a sheep dog that looks a bit like a collie but he has a bit of Rottweiler in him and used to be pretty good at catching individual sheep (mind, like I said half are lame) until the postman ran over him and left him with 3 legs and a wonky eye.
Good to have young lads coming into professional agriculture!
