We’ve had a batwing topper here for 20 years and it’s completely knackered. It’s been a good tool but I’ve never really liked the swath it leaves in thick material or the pickup behind the tractor wheels. Thistles are also a bit hit and miss without lots of other material going in the front.
We've got hundreds of acres of new herbal leys on top of hundreds of acres of permanent pasture so lots of material to chop up in the summer to get the aftermaths going.
So it’s either a new batwing with mulching setup or a Major Cyclone. I like the look of the Cyclone and can go a bit wider than a batwing which is appealing with the amount of topping we have to do this year. Front mounted would be a perfect setup but that would limit me to one tractor so it will have to be rear mounted.
Has anyone changed from a batwing to Cyclone and regretted it?
Are they lasting well?
Any other comments or experiences
