After the vote in parlament on the standards of food coming into GB being at least the same as we currently meet being defeated, is QA as we know it finnished as we race to the bottom to try and compete with lower standard imports ?

The governments stated aim is for uk standards to be the best in the world but to promote free trade and allow food from other countries.
There is absolutely no way uk standards will be diluted. Thinking 3 months ago would have certainly allowed our industry to be exported. Covid may change this slightly.

However a free trade deal with the us is more important than one with the eu. So we are back to squaring the round hole.

in the dairy farm, RT is already under 'warning' with processors bringing in their own assured schemes. RT was a great initiative, when it began, but unfortunately, somewhere along the path, it lost its way, ending up with losing the support of many farmers, whether that is RT's response to keep adding 'bits' to justify its self, or moving away from the original aims of, health, treatment, and welfare. I really cannot see any relevance in keeping a soggy pile of data sheets, in the dairy, as opposed to on line, or trying to get me to roof over, a designed out door milk tank, or telling me to wash it off each day. It is in desperate need of a reshaping. We really need, a strong scheme, that promotes those things, the public need reassurance on, even to strengthening those standards, just lose the crap. However we will compete with substandard imported food, I dread to think.
