Issues with 2nd hand car - return or repair?

Bought a 2017 car with 44k miles 4 weeks ago. Car was to be serviced prior to me collecting, salesman rang the next day to say himself and the mechanic had noticed an issue with driving and it needed to go to BMW for an EGR recall, delaying the handover for a week.
On collection, after 2 mile driving I noticed a hesitation in acceleration, called the salesman and he called BMW who agreed to verify their work but 28th June being the earliest so I booked it in. Car has now gone into full limp mode with a range of EGR and cat sensor faults.

I rely heavily on my car, travel 25k miles per year with work and last thing I need is a lemon....should I accept repairs or look about a return?

Many thanks

Sorry should have noted, I purchased from a multi-car dealership, but the EGR recall was completed by the BMW dealer, I understand the recall involved changing the EGR cooler but not the EGR.

Another slight worry is that the fault codes have appeared on previous service invoices

You're right, modern stuff is rubbish. I'd still rather be driving and fixing a Merc, broken down or not.

Personally I would reject it as if the dealer hasn't prepped it and BMW haven't completed the work correctly, the longer you have fit and put up with the harder it is to get them to fix it.
As mentioned above plenty of cars about

It's a 420d...for a long commute I'd prefer the 6 cylinder 430d but I chose the 420d so it could match the outgoing Golf GTD economy (whilst it doesn't compare to the Golf for user friendliness or gadgets!) No courtesy car as they have 'none available,' very poor form I think, I wouldn't be the type to complain but a few months down the line I definitely don't want this hassle so I think I'll go through due process and return it

Yea it came with a 6 month warranty, so many ex lease cars nowadays that it takes a bit of work to check service history etc

The 1 series is a cracking car. Well the older one anyways. Not sure on the new glorified mini with huge grilles 1 series.
My wife runs an M140i and that thing is shockingly quick!!
just gone from a mini to a M135i , mini is nothing like it , may be the same platform and running gear but that's where it ends and a lot quicker than a jcw mini , they are faster than the M140i and for me didn't realise it was front wheel drive , best car and fun since the rs turbo escort :):)

If you have not been on the bmw drivers course (you know, the one that teaches bmw drivers to have no reguard whatsoever for other road users and must definitly NEVER use the indicators) then reject it. If you have hhhhhmmmmmm.:)
