it is an error code I think but I don't have my manuals loaded up on laptop at the minute. (takes ages to sort out)

Anyway I think the calibration is as follows

on firm level ground, steering straight, lower boom till forks are just clear of ground. Parking brake on.

Switch off machine
Press and hold the button on front of SLI box, start the machine, continue to hold button for a further 30seconds until buzzer sounds, release button the unit will beep every 10 seconds.

Within the next 5minutes do the following

pick up a weight and extend boom so arse end is just about to lift off the ground, press the button once.

Retract the boom by 500mm and press the button once.

Calibration is complete.

If calibration is not successful an error will be displayed. ( as said I don't have these errors easy to hand, but most likely to be a wire broken at the transducer sensor or the sensor its self)

My instructions are based on the TM300 with this type of SLI so I have not given you the exact weights and boom out distances as they will be different on a TM310? how ever if you do like I say I don't think that will be far wrong.

It seems intermittent
Ive traced the wiring as much as i can and it seems ok
Maybe sensor on the way out,or needs rebolting down

unlikely to need rebolting down. not sure about a TM310 but a 531-70 etc you jack the back axle off the ground before bolting it down, also put Loctite on the face of the sensor but not the bolts, this stops rust forming between the sensor and distorting it giving false readings I assume.

(531-70 sensor is bolted to the rear axle, a TM310 is on the front chassis I think?)

Rear chassis just above the main pivot(y)

Thanks for that ACE, the 520s i have had for a few years, never had the sli working since i bought it.
I have checked the wiring several times whilst servicing it, to try and get it ti work.
Read this and thought i might just try it, what have i to lose. Hei presto a working SLI. If we ever meet I'l be buying you a beer or two ! thanks HH

Must be similar SLI, JCB use a few types, some have a couple of manual adjuster screws on the back of the box one says zero set that first with no weight on, normally there is a separate indicator light on the front of the unit some you set so light is on and some you set so its flashing, the other says 100% set that last once you have a load on.

Some machines have no adjuster screws and you enter the calibration mode by holding a small magnet near to at a certain point on the read out box till it beeps then press the button to set zero, then put your load on and press the button again to finish.

Sorry to hijack but, I've a 520-50, jumped in it this morn and the sli was beeping and flashing full force as soon as I turned the ignition on, it was fine when parked up last night, is it likely to be a sensor fault? Or box issue? It's the old type sli with two screws to calibrate, thanks in advance.

Wiring broken or sensor fault is the most common. Did you wash it recently?

I have had it were I have washed machines and water gets in them and buggers them, if your lucky it drys out but in the winter I have had it freeze in the sensor and bugger them that way:(

Not been washed recently, wiring looks good as far as I can see, I had noticed that it had gone out of calibration slightly, so I guess I'll try the sensor, is there any way to test it with a multimeter?
