Hi have a 06 jcb 52755 from new love it hardly any problems due to renting another farm for young stock we have bought another 52755 14 plate this 1 however has a turbo engine and sloping radiator we are struggling To keep it from over heating 10 minutes work and it boils it puts sawdust in cubicles with ag fills feeder wagon pushes silage and slurry scraper

We have removed radiator cleaned it, replaced thermostat and overheat after 30 minutes work then after a week with air line blast it goes down to about 10 minutes

Been told can put a new radiator in but boss is thinking of getting rid

Note older machine can work in dust all day for weeks without a blow out doesn't bother it help much appreciated

Blocked core or pipe work
Broken water pump
Head gasket or timing issues

Standard radiator is not big enough if working in anything dusty on the later JCB engine 527-55’s
There was a wide core radiator option which cures the problem.

Old machine has a straight radiator newer machine has a sloped radiator which traps everything hard to blow clean

Remove thermostat so engine should run cooler. Then when engine running look in header tank and put more engine speed. Coolant level should dip or put hand on top radiator hose and put more speed. Pipe should expand, it will tell that water pump is good. For better check you can buy laser thermometer and can check temperature on engine, thermostat housing, top hose, bottom hose, radiator top and bottom. Then you can understant if radiator is blocked

old machine had Perkins engine

this is the problem, standard radiator is not up to working in anything dusty, once build up dust in the core, it just cannot cool the engine enough.

Enquire about the wide core option.
It will be quite expensive but this will sort your problem.

This ^. Use a coolant system pressure tester, and look for excessive pressure building the gauge.
How many from farmers have coolant system pressure tester?? It will be easyer to test for head gasket if you will use then Combustion leak detector cooling system tester. I think all farmers should have this :)

My local JCB dealer is charging damn near £100 an hour plus call out. Compared to buying the Sykes-Pickavant coolant pressure testing kit, £240 plus vat.
Edit- most independent engineers will have a kit in their van, my local guy does.

Good thinking. Just one think that many off pressure testing kits are made for cars not for AG. So there is no addapters to fit header tank. I have made some adapters for AG machine and still look on internet for AG kit adapters but no luck :(
